CURIOSITY about Napoleon Bonaparte
Napoleon's alarm clock.
Napoleon Bonaparte could not bear the idea of losing a battle because of his officers who did not respect the schedules of the appointments.
So for this reason and tired of the constant delays he ordered that all officers have a clock with an alarm.
For this reason, in 1798, he commissioned a robust alarm clock from the famous watchmaker "Breguet".
This alarm clock had to be first of all robust, then equipped with a bell (hours and quarters) and finally that it worked in all positions.
Then, but not least, being a travel "alarm clock" he provided her with a case.
Finally, she had him add a small handle so that it could be hung on the carriages.
In conclusion, an alarm clock came out characterized by a rectangular case that develops upwards with cut glass panels that allow you to admire its movement.
These alarm clocks then spread in France as "Pendule Officier", in Italy as "Cappuccine" and in England as "Carriage Clock".

*(The chronograph is a capable stopwatch to measure time from an exact instant. The first chronographs were used by doctors to measure the heartbeat on the basis of 60 beats. While military chronographs, equipped with a telemetry scale, were used to calculate the distance traveled by the bullets fired by the artillery on the basis of the difference between the moment of the shot followed by the sound of the explosion. Then used to measure the hourly production of any manufacturing activity. Starting from the unitary data, the total pieces per second, the total pieces per minute, the total pieces per hour, it was possible to establish the exact quantity of production of a worker, a group of workers or an entire department. )
