Ghette militari
Le ghette venivano usate dai soldati per proteggere il polpaccio e per impedire ad acqua, neve e fango di infilarsi nelle scarpe.
Usate dai barbari per proteggere le gambe quando cavalcavano.
Si diffusero poi nell'Impero romano d'Occidente, e da allora usate ancora ai giorni nostri.

Lucerna il cappello dei Carabinieri
Il classico copricapo comunemente chiamato "lucerna" è indossato dai militari dell'Arma dei Carabinieri insieme alla Grande Uniforme. Sopra di esso è infisso il caratteristico pennacchio rosso e turchino. Il termine non figura in nessun testo ufficiale, nè si conosce l'origine che è sicuramente in epoca remota. Forse la spiegazione della forma va cercata nella somiglianza che ha con un'antica lucerna. Ecco che la fantasia popolare a fatto si che entrasse nel linguaggio corrente.
